What is an ACR?
• An Artificial Corner Reflector, or ACR, is an aluminium trihedral passive device that reflects the radar signal towards the satellite.
• These devices are used in challenging environments for InSAR, where natural targets may be scarce, and they make it possible to retrieve measurement points where it would otherwise be difficult or impossible.
Where do we install ACRs?
We install ACRs in locations where natural measurement points are expected to be scarce, such as:
• Areas with dense vegetation.
• Snow-covered regions.
• Zones undergoing constant change, such as active construction sites.
• Critical areas for the client to guarantee measurements at defined locations.
Sixense’s own ACR designs
Engineered by Sixense: We take pride in our proprietary design of ACRs, which are tailored to optimise performance across all frequency bands (X, C and L).
Accuracy across every satellite: Our ACR design enhances the reflectivity and accuracy of radar signals, ensuring that data collection is both efficient and reliable.
Custom ACR networks
Dense monitoring with ACR networks: A network of ACRs is often deployed to ensure dense coverage of measurement points in critical areas where natural radar targets are limited. By positioning ACRs across a site, we create a grid of measurement points that provides precise and consistent monitoring over time.
Tailored ACR networks for your site: Each ACR network is designed in collaboration with the client to meet the challenges of the site. We consider factors such as terrain, vegetation, and ongoing activities to optimise the placement and number of reflectors, allowing us to monitor critical areas with confidence.
