Real-time railway track monitoring with patented Cyclops technology, protecting live rail operations during construction of Sydney’s 9km twin tunnels
About WestConnex New M5 Tunnel
- The New M5 tunnel is Stage 2 of WestConnex, Australia’s largest integrated transport and urban revitalisation project and is being delivered by Sydney Motorway Corporation (SMC) on behalf of the NSW Government.
- The New M5 will run via 9km of twin tunnels from Kingsgrove to a new interchange at St Peters, more than doubling the corridor capacity and substantially improving east‐west corridor access between the Sydney CBD, Port Botany and Sydney Airport precincts and the south-west growth areas.
What we’ve delivered
- Sixense has designed and installed a system to monitor track deformations in real-time during adjacent tunnel construction works.
- Our patented Cyclops system is measuring track-parameters, such as top, line, cant and twist with millimetric precision, and sending real-time alarms to stakeholders when set thresholds are exceeded.
- All monitoring data is accessible in real-time in Geoscope, for data analysis, alarming and reporting.
