Atlas InSAR

Satellite based ground and structure deformation monitoring

Atlas InSAR is an Advanced Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) processing chain developed by Sixense designed to provide high-precision, tailored monitoring for a broad range of sites and infrastructure assets.

It detects and analyses ground deformations with precision, delivering insights on movement, stability, and geotechnical conditions.

Powered by satellite data, Atlas InSAR offers comprehensive monitoring that strengthens decision-making and risk management across a range of  applications.

Overview

Atlas InSAR integrates multi-temporal satellite radar datasets and state-of-the-art interferometric algorithms to detect, quantify, and track millimetric ground displacements over time.  By leveraging time series analysis and rigorous quality control procedures, Atlas InSAR delivers reliable deformation indicators across extensive areas.

This capability supports:
•  Early detection of anomalous ground motion .
•  Structural and geotechnical stability assessment .
• Long-term performance monitoring .
• Data-driven risk mitigation and asset management .

Atlas InSAR provides consistent, scalable monitoring solutions tailored to transportation networks, urban environments, industrial facilities, and natural slopes.

Advanced monitoring capabilities

Millimetric deformation accuracy: Detects subtle ground movements, enabling early action.

Large area coverage: Monitors remote and extensive areas, including inaccessible or risky environments.

High density of measurement points: More than 50,000 points/km2 in urban areas.

High measurement frequency: 3, 4, 6, 8, 11 or 12 days between acquisitions depending on satellites.

Retrospective ground motion analysis: Accesses historical satellite archives to analyse surface deformation trends dating back to 1992.

Flexible, on-demand monitoring: Adjusts update frequency based on movement intensity and project requirements, ensuring timely insights aligned with risk levels.

Integrated monitoring solutions

Flexible deployment: Atlas InSAR can operate as a standalone monitoring solution or be integrated with conventional ground-based technologies such as GNSS stations, inclinometers, and total stations, improving validation and supporting comprehensive risk management.

Integrated expertise: Sixense supports clients in designing optimal monitoring strategies by combining InSAR data with ground instrumentation to deliver a unique and comprehensive solution.

Web GIS platform: All data is centralised within a single, user-friendly interface, enabling efficient storage, management, and interpretation of information.
